Wide reading habits polish up all the four language skills:
listening, speaking, reading and writing. Even though you don’t find much time
to practise sample materials on regular basis, engaging in a lot of extensive
reading on variety of different subjects will sharpen your spelling, grammar,
punctuation, comprehension and reading sub -skills like, skimming and scamming
which will eventually leads to a higher band score indirectly.
It is human nature that each individual is only keen on
reading materials of their passionate subjects. This will not help when it comes
to IELTS where you are testified on variety of different subjects which may or
may not be your cup of tea. For example; a doctor may not be fond of reading
texts on literature or a lawyer about biology and so on.
As IELTS candidate you should cultivate the habit of reading
texts, articles, notices, books, magazines on different themes which may not
always be a subject you like. I personally advise to read texts related to
topics which you are not specialized in, and whatever you read, read faster than your usual speed.
So here are a list of news websites I would like to personally recommend you to make use of in your spare times. Most of these sites have their own
mobile apps which you can also download for immediate access.
